UPVC Replacement Door Handles

The handles on your doors wear out over time and need to be replaced. In this case, it is crucial that the new handles are in line with the exact dimensions of the old handle.

The three measurements to check are the top screw's location, lever and key hole dimensions. Refer to the size guide for help with this.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever or lever door handle is a modern handle that can be used on replacement or new doors. This kind of door handle is available in a variety of designs and finishes. A number of manufacturers offer this handle including Avocet, ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.

Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle

The door handles of uPVC/Composite are made of robust materials and are suitable for multi point lock doors that require a heavy duty design. The handles are inline, and they use the same screws and spindle to fix them. They can be easily installed on new or existing uPVC/Composite doors.

The sprung lever design allows the handle to be set and angled for comfortable operation and is suitable for all users. The handle has been tested to 200,000 cycles. This helps to ensure that the finish is of high quality and performance is maintained over time. The sprung lever can be reduced to accommodate more locks. This is particularly beneficial for doors with narrower frames, where the cylinder is located further back. A lever that is shorter is an ideal choice for doors where the latch can be activated by the thumb turn on the inside.

Lever Pad

The lever pad upvc handle is different from the lever handles used on the majority of doors. These handle types can either use a single spindle (inline) or independently from each side using two inline or offset spindles (pad). They are typically used on UPVC double glazed doors and are available in a variety of variations and finishes.

The handles have been tested to the minimum of 200k cycles and are available in several finishes, including White Silver, Chrome, & Gold. The finish is compliant with BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, which gives the handle a high level of durability and performance for its intended use.

All of the UPVC lever pad designs are supplied with the spindle and screws that allow them to be put on an existing or new uPVC door. The 211mm backplate fixation centres permit a larger handle, which is often beneficial when replacing an old or damaged multi-point door lock mechanism. These handle levers have springs, which can solve the issue of door handles that move out of horizontal position when they are not being used.

It is crucial to ensure that the PZ dimensions for both the multipoint lock and the uPVC doors when selecting the replacement UPVC spindle and window handle repair. This measurement is often known as the 'handle centre' or 'cylinder centres' and is a critical aspect in ensuring that you have the correct handles.

Once you have the proper PZ size you will then have to ensure that the lever pads and push pads are of a suitable shape to fit the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compatible handles you need for your doors. They typically have rectangular or round in design with an internal lever and an external push pad.

The majority of UPVC lever pads that we offer are sprung, which means that they will return to their horizontal position when they are not being used, instead of hanging out and potentially sticking in the frame. This stops draughts and cold air from entering a property. The majority of UPVC lever pad window handles for upvc are available in left and right handed models, allowing them to be installed on either side of doors.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks can be found on uPVC and other kinds of doors. The cylinder lock operates by using a key that unlocks the cylinder case. This exposes pins that can be aligned to those inside the lock, and permit them to rotate the revolving camera, opening the door. Euro cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins. Doors that are internal and external require different levels of security.

The choice of the correct cylinder is vitally important; this is contingent on how your door and handle are used. For example, external doors should be fitted with an extra secure cylinder, while doors inside can be secured with a standard cylinder. In addition, some cylinders have extra features that increase security further, such as anti-drill or anti-bump properties.

A euro cylinder should be measured correctly to ensure it's the right size for your door. The cylinder should be measured from the hole for fixing screws in the middle to each end of the cylinder including the thumb turn if you have one. It is best to do this while the lock is in place however, in the event that this is not possible, you may remove it to measure. A cylinder that protrudes beyond the handle and escutcheon could be vulnerable to attacks, such as snapping locks, therefore it is crucial to make sure it's not too long.

The design of the latest cylinders comes with anti-drilling as well as bump resistance features. These are designed to reduce the risk of attack by forcing the cylinder to rotate in an opposite direction. This can help deflect the attack, and keep your door safe.

Some cylinders are designed to resist snapping. This is a typical attack on cylinders. A specific tool is used to break the break line of the lock, and then the front of the cylinder is snapped off. This is a quicker and more convenient method of gaining access than a multipoint locking system. It also leaves less evidence of the break-in which could make it difficult to prove insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is positioned inside the base of the patio door handle with lock handle backplate providing a sprung solution that returns the multipoint lock handles back to their rest position after using. These handles used to have no spring, and would slide when the locking mechanism was disengaged. The addition of this simple element is one of the most effective ways to fix this, and is an effective way to keep your upvc doors from getting stuck in the open or closed position, as they aren't always easy to close manually.

The spring cassettes were made to be used with a spring multipoint locks. They are not compatible with handles that aren't sprung and you'll need to cut a hole in the backplate to allow them to fit. (Please check the image for a more detailed diagram). They are a replacement for existing broken or missing cassettes in the backplates of door handles of various brands of uPVC doors. They have an elongated square that can accommodate an 8mm spindle, and they are supplied individually.

These spring cassettes are an excellent cost-effective way to fix the problem of handles on your doors that are sagging. They are easy to fit and will extend the lifespan of your uPVC doors.
