How to Replace an audi replacement key cost uk G28 Engine Speed Sensor

Charles the Humble Technician teaches you how to replace the G28 Engine Speed Sensor. The sensor is situated on the edge of the transmission, above the flywheel ring gear. It transmits a signal to the ECU via a grey wire T55/49, then to the tachometer located on the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

The grey wire is located at the edges of the transmission, directly above the flywheel ring. The sensor transmits an electrical signal through the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU utilizes this information to control boost and fuel. It also sends signals to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used as a reference to correlate with the G40 Camshaft Position Sensor. The ecu has to know when the crankshaft has reached TDC, and the position of the camshaft, so that it can activate the spark and injectors.

If this sensor fails, the ECU will display a P00160 error code. This means that the Crank Shaft is not in sync with the Intake Camshaft. It could also be a sign of a chain stretch or a jumpy chain link in the upper chain. However, the code won't appear on its own without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).

Testing is a bit challenging since there are two connector pins and they have different functions but the most effective way to test it is to measure resistance between the sensor and the ECU. It should read about 1000 ohms if the sensor is in full operation. If you're experiencing issues with this component, look for evidence of coolant or oil in the connector bay.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, while accelerating at full speed from the highway paytoll i had a big cut in power as if the engine was running out of gas or injectors aren't firing any more. I took out the spark plugs this morning and found that 3 were soaked in gasoline, and the 4th was dry. I placed a tissue over each hole in the injector and when I turn the engine on without sparks, the ones with gazoline jump out. The 4th one remains shut. I tested the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55, 30/55 and 48/55. i get 0ohm. Therefore, i think the issue is elsewhere.

I also tried to reset the PID with no success. The car will start when the G28 is unplugged, and it works fine when the G28 plugged in. However, the intermittent misfire problem still occurs at higher RPM. The temperature sensor for coolant (G62) shows the wrong temperature value of -49c even when i unplug it. Also i noticed that the gauge for oil pressure in the cockpit is showing 2 bar, whereas the actual pressure is 0.0 when i rev the engine.

I'm not sure what to do. I feel like i've pretty much all other possibilities out. I'm afraid i may have missed something. Please let me know should you have any suggestions! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 gets a signal from the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is identical to the G4 sender and works on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. It is easy to find an extra in a wrecking shop or a parts store. It is simple to test them by putting your DMM in resistance mode and take measurements between pins 1 (with the bump on the connector's side up) and 2 (2nd from left on the black end of the connector). They must be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU

Our 20vt turbo (3B AAN, ABY, and ADU) engines have an ECU that needs to know the speed and position of the crankshaft in order to make decisions regarding timing of the fuel injectors, etc. It makes use of a Crank Position Sensor G4 and an Engine Speed Sensor G28 to achieve this. If you encounter a problem with either of these, the diagnostic scanner will display the codes that could trigger an engine shutdown.

A malfunctioning G28 sensor could cause an inaccurate speed counter for replacement key audi the gearbox and programmers a gearbox which shifts more quickly than normal, or a misfire in the gear. It is possible that your sensor is failing and needs to be replaced if you experience any of these signs. They're cheap and easy to find, especially when they're an Bosch sensor like ours. You can also choose the GM version of this unit is also a good option.

5. Tachometer

A failing engine speed sensor could be the cause of a slew of issues with your vehicle. It is an important part of the transmission in your audi car keys replacement because it relays information to the ECU regarding how fast or slow the engine is turning. This sensor can cause the transmission to fail and other components of the car to be affected.

The G5 engine speed sensor is situated on the edge of the transmission just above the flywheel ring gear and sends a signal to the ECU at pin T55/49, via an uncolored wire. The ECU uses this signal to regulate fuel and boost, as well as timig. It also transmits it to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster. You can test the sensor for any failure by checking the continuity between it and the tachometer. You can also check continuity between ECU pin T55/49 and the instrument cluster connection via pin T6a/1 (trace [79trace [79]) and between pin T6a/1 and the instrument cluster pin T26a/12. You should detect a resistance of approximately 1000 ohms between these two points. This is a common component across the audi a3 key replacement 80, 100, 200, UrS and RS2 range from 1985 MC through the 1997 UrS AAN and 1995 RS2 ADU. Good ones could be available in wrecking yards.
