Cheap Single Pushchairs

If you're looking to save money and don't require a stroller that doubles up as a car seat carrier, the Babyzen Yoyo is a good option. It comes with a simple one-step foot brake that's flip-flop friendly.

It's also a breeze to push and feels sturdy in navigating kerbs or woodland paths. It's also a breeze to fold.

1. Babyzen YOYO2

The Babyzen YOYO2 has built a reputation as the most lightweight buggy for jet-setters and city dwellers alike, due to its extremely nimble handling and fold that fits in aeroplane overhead luggage. The latest version has independent suspension on all four wheels constructed of Hytrel elastomer, which allows it to 'perfectly traverse all terrains and types'.

The curved fabric bassinet, base YOYO2 and the 6months of colour pack come together to create a chic pushchair that has a soft, elegant aesthetic. The frame's weight alone is less than a kilo and is so light that you can lift it directly from the box (and do it with one hand).

The hood, for example snaps onto the YOYO2 with a reassuring manner. It is machine washable at 30deg, which helps to prevent staining caused by smushed and mashed carrot puffs and rice cakes. The Newborn Pack and bassinet can be used from birth as an infant stroller. It could also be converted to a stroller by 6 months with the YOYO connect other chassis.

2. Evenflo Pivot Xplore

The Evenflo Pivot Xplore is a great option for parents looking for a versatile stroller wagon. The Evenflo Xplore can be converted from a stroller into the wagon by turning the handle. Parents can then select the best lightweight single stroller mode for their journey. The wagon can fit two or more children between 6 months to five years old. It comes with a large storage basket that will hold all your needs while on the go.

The Xplore also has two canopies that rotate from the front to the back, offering ample sun protection for all family members. It has a smaller footwell than some wagons. This may not be ideal for long drives or naps.

The frame on the Xplore is solid and sturdy but it doesn't have the same flexibility as other wagons we tested. It is also more difficult to fold than many of the competitors and it doesn't lock tightly when folded. It is easy to move, however, and can fit through doors with a width of 28 inches.

3. Delta Children LX Side by Side

This Delta Children bare-bones travel stroller is a great choice for parents looking for a secondary stroller that's priced reasonably. It was awarded an impressive score in our Strollers and Multiples test for weight and size folded which means it's light, compact single stroller when folded and easy to lift into a trunk of a car or closet. It also has a reclined seat that can be reclined in several positions as well as a cup holder for the parent. Other features of note include 360-degree shock absorbing front wheels, as well as two large storage bags that hang from the ceiling.

It performed better in our push and turn test than most of the other strollers we tested, but was nonetheless difficult to maneuver on uneven ground or through narrow doors. The sunshades on it were among the tiniest of strollers we tested. They only cover the top, and do not feature peekaboo windows. The UPPAbaby G-Link 2 has a more extensive canopy.

It took us just under 3 minutes to assemble the Delta using a standard manual. None of the parts required tools. However, it is missing some essential features we believe you should not compromise on for a double stroller such as an extra-large basket, and reclining seats with adjustable leg rests.

4. Maxi-Cosi Zelia 2-in-1

The Zelia is the most recent addition to Maxi-Cosi's pushchair range and is described as an urban travel system. It can be used from birth until 3.5-years-old. The seat and carrycot can be easily converted in only a few clicks. It can be used with Maxi Cosi capsule car seats. It comes with a lightweight Mico 30 infant seat, a car-base that stays in the car and a reversible baby carriage.

It is really easy to maneuver, and the one-hand reclining of the seat as well as the massive shopping basket make it easy for parents to get their child in and out of the seat quickly. The narrow pushchair sailed through all day bumps and doorways easily.

The front wheels are able to be locked in a forward position or swivel. This is helpful in rough terrain. We allowed the front wheels to rotate during our walk on a stony path. It handled this reasonably well, even though it felt a little bumpier.

5. Baby Jogger City Tour 2

Baby Jogger is famous for their three-wheeled, all-terrain pushchairs for jogging, but they also have a wide assortment of strollers with four wheels. The City Tour 2 is one of their most sought-after models. It is simple to use and folds down small enough to fit in the car boot, even with the carrycot attached.

It's heavier than other strollers that we test, but since it comes with rubber composite wheels it feels solid and well-constructed. It is easy to maneuver across different terrains and even with two kids as well as a shopping bag and other items.

The seat and carrycot both have hoods that can be pulled down to reveal sun canopy extensions that are UV50+. They are water-resistant and durable unlike other prams' hoods that are whipped back into toddlers faces.

It's not a lot of storage space, but it comes with a large basket deep enough to hold a change bag or a large amount of groceries. You can also use it with a Baby Jogger car seat for babies who weigh 20 pounds or less (car seat and adapters are available separately). The City Tour 2 is a good choice if you want to use a stroller on the move.

6. Nuna Mixx Next

When the Nuna Mixx first rolled onto the scene it stole the hearts of parents all over the world. It's an aluminium framed stroller that will be with you throughout your baby's first years and beyond. It has many standout features, like the capacity of the seat to be turned between the parent and the world and a huge UPF50+ canopy, a flip-out eyeshade, and an adjustable handlebar.

The chassis is equipped with an integrated suspension system that helps reduce the impact of bumpy terrain. The wheels are constructed of tough foam and reduce punctures. Our test driver found it easy to single push chair and was able to maneuver it through tight streets with ease.

It folds automatically and locks in just four steps. It can also be folded and raised for easier transport down the stairs or in the boot of the car. It also comes with a travel system equipped with the ability to add a car seat and a carrycot using the included adaptors. The brakes are simple to use, using a single sit and stand stroller, colour coded and flip-flop compatible.

7. Babyzen Duet

This budget pushchair is simple to use and has an excellent dual suspension. It folds by one hand and comes with a handy carrying strap. It's also extremely light and robust. The seat is reclined in several positions. It comes with a built-in double breathable mattress that's suitable from birth.

The canopy/seat features two large fixed or flip-out sun visors. Both are UPF50+. The toggle closure isn't ideal because it's not as quiet as Velcro and could wake up napping babies.

The Duet is an angled stroller single that can accommodate twins or siblings. (Up to 22kg per seat). It's compatible with two infant car seats and even can be used with carrycots. In twin mode, the seats can be facing each other or rotate around to face their parents, potentially decreasing sibling rivalries over who should sit with mom and dad. It comes with a huge gear tray as well as a bottle holder and snack tray. It also has an automated frame lock as well as a compact fold.

8. Baby Jogger Urban Glide 2.

The Thule Urban Glide 2 is a jogger that's ideal for parents who like to stay active. It's among the lightest strollers you can purchase for your child. It also comes with excellent safety features such as five-point harnesses and a secure wrist strap. It has a different type of hand brake unlike other models that are an interesting twist.

The seat is comfortable and offers a large area to sit in, but the depth of the seat is lower than other joggers we've tried (it's approximately 10"). The storage bin is encased with a zipper that keeps things secure. It can hold up to 10 lbs that is enough for most diaper bags.

The Urban Glide 2 doesn't come with adapters to fit most infant car seats and bassinets, but you can use them from the first day with adapters that fit brands such as BOB, Graco Combi Evenflo Britax UPPAbaby. It folds compactly and takes 5-10 minutes to put together with no tools. The user manual is easy to read and comes in a variety of languages.
