But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. Given that this fridge costs more, I'd expect higher quality.
Aside from that blip the fridge is a great choice. It has a huge freezer compartment, which is unusual for counter-depth French-door fridges. It also holds a lot of frozen food, which is a big difference from other models.
Inside the fridge, you'll find 17 shelves and compartments. The refrigerator compartment is 18.5 cubic feet, which is standard for a French-door fridge at this price. It has a decent-sized refrigerator with an ice maker in the left door. But it's not the biggest one I've seen.
You can adjust the shelves in both compartments to make an individual storage solution. The interior design of the GE PYE22PYNFS is also attractive. The LED lighting is a nice feature and the storage bins feature a third shelf that folds down to make it possible to store tall items. The drawers come with temperature controls that allow you to set them to Meat, Beverage or Deli settings. The drawers are easy to shut and open, but I found the textured plastic coatings to be a bit rough on my fingers.
The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator comes with all the features you'd expect from a refrigerator within this price range. It has Wi-Fi as well as app support, and GE's SmartHQ Software. The app, available for iOS and Android devices, lets you control your fridge from anywhere in the world, and offers a ton of customization options. It also sends you notifications when the door is unlocked and when the freezer or fridge must be defrosted and when the filter has to be changed.
It would be nice if GE PYE22PYNFS had Precise Fill, an option available in a few other GE fridges that allow you to preset how many cups of water you'd like to dispense at a time. The fridge displays a countdown to display how much water is left but it's not as useful as Precise fill.

The top shelf to the right can be folded in order to create more space for tall items. You'll also find a full-width deli drawer and an internal water dispenser.
One of the nice features of this refrigerator is that the ice maker is inside the freezer, making it easy to move ice into the fridge for use when required. The freezer also has clever design features, like sliding drawers that allow you to sort your things. It comes with a large bin for storing frozen food and a separate one for ice.
Smart InstaView panel is another awesome feature of the refrigerator. You can manage the temperature, lighting and other aspects of your fridge using your smartphone. It's a good way to control and monitor your refrigerator, especially if you're away from home.
The Smart InstaView feature is neat however it doesn't enhance the performance of the fridge. In fact it took longer to defrost and chill foods in this refrigerator than other refrigerators we tried. This is likely due to the greater capacity.
The doors pose a problem with this refrigerator. The handles with a sunken design allow shorter people to open them from the bottom. However, taller people still struggle to close them without slamming. It would have been much better to have front-mounted handles.
The LG Counter-Depth MAX is a ideal option for those looking to combine the benefits of a french door fridge price-door refrigerator's aesthetics with an efficient layout. Its capacity is above average for a counter-depth model, and it cools well and has a nice layout. It's also a bit less than the top counter-depth refrigerator with an ice maker, which helps make it a popular choice.

If you're looking for an French door fridge that doesn't cost a fortune and isn't expensive, this Frigidaire is a great choice. It's a minimalist design that isn't as visually striking like some of the competitors however it comes with enough features to make it a good option. Its main feature is the temperature adjustable drawer, which helps keep foods such as meat and vegetables fresher for longer. It also has a large water dispenser as well as a good Ice machine that is fast.
Another nice feature is the "Chill Drawer" that sits over the two crisper bins. This drawer lets you divert a portion of the refrigerator's cooling power directly into this area, meaning you can keep food items that need extra attention. You can alter the feature using an adjustable slider that is located just outside of the drawer. You can also use this to adjust the general cooling settings for the entire fridge, however, I've found that changing the generic settings tends to have a better effect than specific ones.
During my tests, the temperatures of the refrigerator were fairly constant across the different areas of the fridge. The temperatures in the middle, top and bottom of the refrigerator didn't vary significantly from 38 degrees. This is a solid performance, but doesn't quite make it to the top of our ratings.
This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. This fridge can be connected with a smart thermostat to get more accurate readings on the internal temperature of your fridge.
The Frigidaire FGHB2866PF's outside is made of stainless steel with a grey body with a "smudge-proof" finish. It is capable of preventing streaks and fingerprints from appearing even when compared to the glossy stainless steel finishes on other appliances I've tried.
