Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade

Item upgrade, commonly referred to as "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment gives an increase in the linearity of a given stat.

Players can recycle six items at once to gauge each item's upgraded component. The cost of recycling an item varies with its rarity and level.

Upgrade components

The number of upgrade components needed for a particular item can be seen in the upper-right corner of the Upgrade window. The cost of upgrading increases with the level of upgrade and rarity, but can be reduced through a variety of ways, such as purchasing upgrades at a merchant or trading them to other players.

The majority of weapons can be upgraded by a prefix such as a rune or an insignia. Other weapons can be enhanced with a suffix. These upgrades change the name of the item, adding an adjective, such as "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor. The only exceptions are the non-inscribable weapons, such as shields and foci from Prophecies and Factions campaigns, that cannot be upgraded using any kinds of mods at all.

Glyphs

The value of the glyph is contingent on the tier and quality of the product you are enchanting.

The majority of upgrade components that are installed into items cannot be removed or replaced without dismantling them except for legendary equipment and upgrades. If you have a glyph or rune you don't want to use but it hasn't been applied to gear yet, you can move the item to a different piece by using the Upgrade Glyphs menu within the Glyphs Panel. This will create a new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.

You can take out any glyph with the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. The item will be destroyed that it was installed in but you will be able to salvage the upgraded item by using the glyph and its fragments, therefore, it shouldn't be considered as a loss.

If you take an item off after putting a glyph on it, the shards from that glyph will disappear. You can also apply an inscription to your equipment to add a bonus. Deferred Damage, for example, can store damage and then be dealt slowly to the wearer rather than all at once. This is useful for players who take many hits from enemies but do not want to be overwhelmed.

Reroll tokens

Reroll tokens can be used to alter the affixes of weapons and other equipment. They can be obtained from a variety of sources, such as mystery boxes or rare drops from skulled monsters or by killing bosses. Each reroll token gives the player a new random affix, which is typically superior to the original. Reroll tokens are also a great method to reroll the stats of a weapon that can be upgraded for better damage or perks.

Rerolled items are not listed in the menu of upgrade options, however they can still be upgraded. When you press the "upgrade button" you can recycle the items that have been rerolled. Leveling

There are many ways to increase the level of an upgrade for an item. The first way to level up an upgrade for an item is by increasing the amount of upgrade. This increases the value of upgrading a stat. The second option is to increase the effect of the upgrade, which boosts damage or healing for a stat. The base item can be upgraded to an advanced upgrade type. Once this is done, the new item will keep its iLevel but it will benefit from the upgrade effects of the upgraded type of item.

It is important to keep in mind that upgrades are not guaranteed. In the majority of cases, a better roll is based on the glyphs. However, there are times when a more or unique roll could occur. If you're lucky the upgraded item will attain the highest level on its upgrade track and gain an additional effect. This will result in a significant increase in the value of the item.
